ALS is a thief. It slowly takes muscle, speech, movement until someone can feel fully alive inside a body that won’t cooperate. Yesterday we lost Eric Dane to ALS. For many of us, he’ll always be Dr. Sloan. McSteamy. The smirk. The swagger. The steam. The complicated heart under the abs. But his life was bigger than a role. Bigger than a diagnosis. I’ve witnessed this disease firsthand. It’s brutal and barbaric. Neurodegenerative diseases like ALS don’t just impact the person, they ripple through families, caregivers, children, partners.
