Building @a.change.of.air and our first two properties @acoa_nijo and @acoa_takashima has been fun. The shared vision that @takumainoue and @eugenekan have for the intersection where brand and culture coincide with hospitality and real estate is incredibly inspiring. My team and I have been learning a lot about the importance of physical environments and real world experiences. Internally, we call it “placemaking.” Making space(s) for people to connect with others and be present is something that feels more important than ever. I hope we get to continue working across projects that are 360 like this: where we get to work end-to-end on all aspects of business, brand, marketing, guest facing operations, and more. The Kyoto location is open for bookings now and is situated in the cutest little neighborhood of Nijo. The Takashima location is also open for stays, accommodates large families, and sits right on Lake Biwa. Thank you to the entire @adamstudios.xyz team. The bench remains strong. Treating every client project like a school project is the mode.

As I lean further into shooting physical spaces and real world environments, Always Joy felt like the perfect case study: Chef Matt Abergel’s newest project is a Japanese diner concept with interiors by @willoperron @perronroettinger. The design feels like a love letter to both Tokyo and classic American diners.
