MOVE! These are the wise words of my favorite podcaster @melrobbins As I was driving in my car listening to her words, I got goosebumps. It was like she was talking to my 20 year old self…. Backstory: I made the decision to move when I was 20 years old. I wanted to see and explore this big world ???? of ours, and also push myself out of my comfort zone. I knew that if I hated it, I could always move back home???? I moved to Dubai ???????? at 21, not having a clue about that part of the world, and joined the airlines ✈️ where I would get the opportunity to travel the world, stay in luxurious hotels, and get paid for it! For me it was more exciting than scary…. 20 years ago, there wasn’t the technology that we have today; there was no social media, FaceTime. (There was however high phone bill costs ????‍♀️) Nowadays, being an expat is much easier, especially being able to stay connected with our loved ones ❤️ in more ways than one. 20 years later, now in my 40’s, I never did go back home permanently. I have lived in 6 countries and now get to do it with my husband and son ???? ???? Today, I still challenge myself and have grown because I MOVED in my 20s. Hi everyone ???? I am Andrea and im originally from N. Ireland. In 2004, I was 21 and I decided that I needed to go explore the world ???? there were so many places I wanted to see. So I joined Emirates Airlines ✈️ as cabin crew and moved to Dubai! It was both scary and exciting and definitely not easy at times, but I knew then that I had made the best decision and I never looked back. 20 years later, I have now lived in 6 countries and I am currently in England ???????????????????????????? If you ever wonder whether you should move to another country and are thinking about it, just do it. Life is very short and worst case scenario, you can always return home ???? with no regrets. I have grown as a person, and experienced so much over the years, and I don’t regret my decision at all. At times it can be hard, missing certain events and not always getting to see family and friends from home, but thank goodness for technology and FaceTime, it has definitely made it much easier. For our summer trip, we took the Eurostar from London ➡️ Brussels ???? (more on that later) Our hotel ???? was conveniently located opposite Brussels Central station. I recommend staying close to the train station for day trips from Brussels. We were also only a short walk to Brussels main square, so super convenient! ????The first day we explored Brussels. ???? Second day we took the train to Brugges. Price is €35 RTN for an adult. Kids under 12 free. Travel time around 1 hour. ???? Third day we took the train to Ghent. Price for an adult €22.20 RTN. Kids under 12 free. Travel time 35 mins. (you could do Ghent & Brugges on the same day which would work out cheaper for the train, but it would make for a long day) ???? If you are going to London to see a West End show, I can’t recommend The Londoner Hotel ???????? enough! We wanted to stay in Leicester Square this time on our visit, so we were close to things we planned on doing, and just have a short walk to the hotel after the show, instead of taking the tube. Especially after my experience of getting pick pocketed last year on the tube leaving Leicester Square! Lots of lovely restaurants around, and it’s next to the Lego Store and M&M store, but we were kid free this time as our son was on a school weekend trip. The hotel is one of the most exquisite that I have ever stayed in. And don’t get me started on the Japanese toilets! Gosh I missed them. There is also entertainment on the weekends at the lobby bar, and they were top quality. If you haven’t climbed one of Londons most historical landmarks; The Monument To The Great Fire Of London, add it to your London bucket list! It’s one of those things not many people know about, but definitely worth doing. And you even get a free certificate included in the admission cost for completing the climb! The Monument was built in 1677 to commemorate the Great Fire of London (1666) which destroyed much of the city. It was an extremely tragic time for the city of London ???????? The little dude learned about this in his history lessons a few years back, so he really wanted to go visit Pudding Lane and The Monument. Once I found it you could climb it, I was all in. I am all about new experiences, and this was one that seemed really interesting. It is an affordable price as well. What can I say; I attended my first ever NFL game ???? with 76,000 people in Croke Park Stadium ????️ and it was way more fun than I expected. 4 hours seems such a long time for a game, but there is so much going on; much more than just the game. The national anthems being performed live, the sing alongs, and the half time show with Myles Smith! Being in my home country ???????? made it that extra special ❤️ The ambience throughout Dublin was epic! This might have to become a yearly thing ???? Our team won ????
