Why we’re going out of business… For 11 years we stood steadfast in the vision of creating a brand that empowered women on the water. Like all entrepreneurs, we took the rollercoaster ride of the ups and downs (way more ups than downs), and even amidst our delusion that nothing would stop us, one “down” took us too far where we couldn’t get up again. There’s a dark side to this industry, and it’s one where the “little guy” is always getting pushed around by the industry giants. As a small brand, you have almost no leverage, and you have to play by other people’s rules, or you don’t get to play at all. But we’re not here to tell a sob story. We’re here to say THANK YOU from the deepest part of our hearts. These past 11 years have been filled with MAGIC and that’s because of YOU. None of this means anything without the community that you’re creating it for. We didn’t do it alone. Reel Skipper was fueled by this community, our amazing manufacturing partners, plenty of INCREDIBLE retail partners who did not cancel orders on us and have been taking a chance on a small women owned brand for years, our sales reps, our brand ambassadors who inspire other women to follow their passions, and our creative partners and photographers that brought our stories to life in a way we never could (major shout out to @chelseyerwinphotography and @perrinjames1).
